    Notes
    • Parish register shows Thomas LOADMAN and Ann Bell, both of this Parish, by Licence, 30 January 1753. No other information given. This is the only marriage of a Thomas Laidman and Ann at Bowes and fits with the baptisms of the various children, but not with that of their son John N1078 (who was also baptised at Bowes). We have to assume therefore that Thomas and Ann did not marry until after the birth of their first child.

  • Notes
    • Baptisms at Bowes 1729 and 1733:
Thomas, son of Mark Laidman of Bowes bap Aug 10 1729 (L1990)
Mark son of Mark Laidman bap 21 Oct 1733 (L1622)
These Parish Register photocopies were in the Hanby Holmes series of docs i.e. solicitors papers and I would think that Mark and Thomas were mentioned in a Will somewhere and had to prove their entitlement.

The Universal British Directory, London, 1792, gives a list of Bowes householders at that date.
Where the letter "F" appears after a name, it signified that the person is a freeholder.
      Traders, Etc.
      LAIDMAN, Thomas, Sen. F.

No burials at Bowes for this Thomas or his wife Ann.
